Hello, my name is Jeremy Turner, and I’ve finally found a reason to start a blog. About time, you say? We’lll I agree! I’ve put it off for a while now because, well, I’ve never been one to keep a diary, and if I did I sure as heck wouldn’t keep it in public. But thanks to reality that is The Interweb and its influence on our lives, I have finally found a purpose. That purpose is currently the 139th result when doing a search with Google on the search term “Jeremy Turner.” If you can’t tell, that’s my LinkedIn profile. Or rather, it is a link that takes you to a list of Jenny, Jeremy, and Jerome Turners who have LinkedIn profiles.
This simply will not do.
In my current position as a senior graphic designer at this bay area advertising agency, I am being called upon more frequently to be resonably knowledgeable about SEO standards and practices when pitching, building, and maintaining websites for our clients. For me this blog will be a learning experience to see just what works and what doesn’t. The current plan is to start out by installing a number of Wordpress (the platform on which this site is built) plugins geared towared making one’s blog more “SEO friendly.” I hope to review the effectiveness of these plugins as well as the SEO concepts they represent. I also hope to make periodic posts regarding the worthiness of the other Jeremy Turner’s on The Interwebs who share the newly minted misfortune of directly impeding my stated goal. A cursory review of the competition reveals that there are some legitimate candidates for first place in the jeremy turner query race, however I hope to convince you, and The Google otherwise.
That being said, this blog exists mainly as a vehicle to increase my Google “presence”. Pure vanity on my part really. I vow not to stop blogging until I am the number one result for “Jeremy Turner.” Of course, I have no idea how easy or hard this is going to be, or if it is really possible. Will posting fresh content be enough? Can I get some backlink love? Do I even know what that means? Just what the hell is “link juice,” and why on earth would I want it? I plan on posting fairly regularly, so stay tuned. And, if you happen to actually find this blog on your own, please leave a comment and let me know what you think. Thanks.
